‘64 Four-speed Roadster Auction
Not even close to being original. Might be a relatively inexpensive driver.
The auction description for this ‘64 indicates a two-year refurbishment that was completed in 2009. It reveals that the engine is a 327 cu. in. V8 replacement and paired with a four-speed manual transmission. I’m not sure if that means the transmission was also replaced, and if so, what the original transmission was.
The original color was Saddle Tan. It has a white convertible soft top, American Racing 15″ wheels, disc brakes, power steering, and side exhaust. The power steering and four-wheel disc brakes were added during the refurbishment.
The interior was originally Saddle Tan and was changed to red. The original shifter was replaced with a Hurst shifter. The instrument panel was apparently replaced so although the odometer shows 89,000 miles, the true mileage is unknown.
The replacement 327ci V8 has a Comp Cams Thumpr hydraulic flat tappet camshaft/lifters and a Holley four-barrel carburetor.
The undercarriage looks remarkably clean and tidy - that’s always a good sign. It’s for sale in Texas which might explain the lack of corrosion as well as the need for both an exterior repaint and interior replacement.
I don’t know what to make of this car. It’s not very original as far as paint, interior, drivetrain, etc. The side exhaust is a plus, but it’s been added at some point. For the right price, this might make a nice driver level C2 for the right buyer. Details here:
