‘85 Coupe Survivor: 19k Original Miles
The best offer will buy this rare C4 with a two-tone exterior chosen by only 5% of buyers
This survivor second-year super-low-mileage C4 looks really good in the supplied photos. It’s listed in Saugatuck, Michigan for $13,200 or best offer.
A known ownership history is a big plus when you’re interested in buying a 40-year-old car. The original buyer owned it for less than a year and put under 1,000 miles on it before selling it to the second owner who kept it for forty years. It now has only 19,792 documented miles.
This car was ordered with option D84 and therefore left the factory with the exterior painted in a combination of Silver over Gray. Even though this was the most popular two-tone combination, only 2,170 cars were ordered like this.
The original paint seems to be in excellent condition with no signs of physical damage, although some chips in the paint have been touched up. All the glass and the removable roof panels are also in good shape, as are the distinctive alloy wheels.
This C4 was ordered with a four-speed automatic transmission, and both power steering and brakes. Several document sources, including service records, confirm the car’s odometer. The ad description claims that the car runs and drives perfectly.
Amenities include air conditioning, power windows/locks, power driver’s seat, leather trim, cruise control, heated exterior mirrors, and a premium radio/cassette stereo. Even though the seats show some typical wrinkles and slight wear, the Graphite leather interior looks like it’s in very good condition.
The Corvette engineers retired the L83 version of the 5.7-liter V8 from the previous model year and replaced it with the slightly more powerful L98 version featuring Tuned-Port Injection. The L83 had delivered 205hp and 290 ft/lbs of torque, but the L98 increased those numbers to 230hp and 330 ft/lbs.
Although the ‘85 Corvette certainly didn’t compare to the performance of the earlier years, it still rang up 39,729 sales. Even though this was a 20% drop in sales from 1984, it demonstrated that there was still a strong market for the brand.

Always liked the concave rear valence on the early C4 Corvettes. I wonder if those could be fitted to a later C4.
