‘89 Coupe with Greenwood-style Body Kit
Probably not actual Greenwood aero items, but these reasonable facsimiles look good
If you like C4s like I do, and you want one that looks different from other ones, this might be the car for you. As much as I value originality, I’ve always found the Greenwood aero enhancements an attractive treatment. I think it provides a race-ready look that says “Take me to the track.” This Dark Red Metallic ‘89 coupe is an interesting alternative to the plethora of red and black cars of this generation.
This Corvette is available at no reserve in an auction that ends Monday, 6/30, at 6:01 PM. The high bid a day before the auction end is $6410.
The seller discloses that although the paint looks very good in the accompanying photos, it does have some light scratches and nicks after traveling 68,000 miles.
The ad refers to the body treatment as a “Greenwood-style kit,” which probably indicates that the side skirts, rear valance, front air dam, and rear spoiler are not actual Greenwood items. But all these accessories seems to fit well and look like they belong there.
The paint looks to me like it’s in pretty good condition and the body kit pieces seem to match well color-wise. The factory 17-inch directional wheels look quite clean with no signs of major pitting or curb damage.
The interior also looks to be original and in very good condition and I like the way it contrasts with the dark exterior color. It’s impressive to me how good this car still looks despite having almost 70,000 miles on the odometer. The seller claims that the AC technically works but it doesn’t provide much cold air in the cabin. There is also some fading on the vinyl of the dash.
This C4 is powered by a L98 V8 that produced a respectable 245 horsepower and 340 lb.-ft. of torque when new. The automatic transmission will somewhat reduce engine performance, but it will still provide adequate power for enjoyable driving.
This car may be an opportunity for someone who likes this generation to get into a C4 with some unusual modifications that don’t alter the car’s rock-solid mechanical reliability.
