Is the C7 a “Modern Classic”?
There are many aspects of this Corvette generation that won’t be seen again
It’s unbelievable to me that the last seventh-generation Corvette rolled off the assembly line almost six years ago. In some ways, it marked the end of an era for the Corvette brand after a relatively short model run that started in 2014. It was reminiscent to me of the second-generation that was comprised of a short five year production run.
This generation could already be referred to as a modern classic that has a significant combination of styling, features, innovations, and performance. This is a type of car that is almost immediately on the radar of enthusiasts and collectors even before it has been out of production for very long.
I had suspected that this might be the case with this Corvette generation when the new mid-engine C8 generation was introduced with what was to me a radically different design as well as the lack of a manual transmission. I have never bought a brand-new Corvette, but when Chevrolet was offering discounts and rebates to clear out the remaining C7s, I was very tempted. I could have bought a base model with a manual transmission in the mid-forty thousand dollar range.
If I knew then what I know now, I think I would have made the purchase. The demand for these cars has been constant and, as a result, the prices of C7s have barely gone down at all. This article outlines the reasons why the seventh-generation Corvette is still a highly desirable sports car today.

Thanks so much for your comment. Yes, I read all your posts, and I saw that you and your wife sold your C7. I honestly didn’t care much for the C7 when it came out but I’ve gradually warmed up to the design, especially with the abomination of the succeeding generation. So I agree with your assessment of the C8.
Between the two of us, my wonderful wife and I owned three C7 Corvettes. We very much enjoyed the cars, but advancing years have made it a bit difficult to get in and out of them so for the first time in a long time, we don't own any Corvettes. My wife sold her 2018 convertible in Z51 spec and 3LT trim about a week ago.
The old axiom that if you have nothing nice to say then you shouldn't say anything is difficult to follow when the subject is something about which you are passionate. I think the C8 Corvette is just ugly and the more I see it, the uglier it gets. ¡Nunca Para Mi! Where we live in Arizona we see A LOT of C8s, just like we see a lot of Porsches, Ferraris, etc.
