A 1997 Hemmings Motor News ad:
“1963 Coupe split window…same owner 25 years…$25,000”
Just for comparison, according to the CPI Inflation Calculator, the 28-year dollar escalation equates to an equivalent today of nearly $60,000. Where can you buy one now for that?
According to the Hagerty valuation, this car, in #3 (good) condition with knock-off wheels, is now conservatively valued at over $100,000. Assuming that this SWC was solid and original to begin with and you drove it sparingly as maybe a weekend toy, this car would have almost doubled in value (in adjusted dollars for 2025) while you enjoyed it for 28 years!
